2017 LEIPZIG SAUVIGNON BLANC WHITE VEGAN WINE
The name, Leipzig, is from the German “city of music”, where the forefathers of this estate stem from. Originally, Mrs Alida Smit, who was born on the neighbouring farm, bought the section of land that is now known as Leipzig. Today, the farm is run by Alida Bester, who is the youngest daughter of Alida and Francois Smit. Alida Bester, along with her husband, Vian, maintain a truly lovely wine venue. We had the pleasure of meeting Vian, who explained the history of the farm and their wines while we tasted them.
AWARDS
Vitis Vinifera Award 2017 – Gold
VITICULTURE
Having used our own Sauvignon Blanc grapes for the 2013 & 2014 editions of this wine, we decided to move in a completely different direction in 2015, 2016 & 2017. We sourced 5.42 tons of Sauvignon Blanc grapes from Diemersdal in Durbanville and 2.4 ton from the Elim region along the Cape South Coast.

TASTING NOTE
Fresh and crisp with wonderful tropical flavours of guava and pineapple on the nose. It exhibits a distinct minerality on the palate typical of cool climate grapes.
